About the Academy

The Academy is the digital learning arm of Engaging Borders SRD, a pan-African peacebuilding and climate resilience initiative. Rooted in the vision of pan-African engaement, the Academy extends EB-SRD’s mission of transforming fragile, climate-stressed, and conflict-affected communities into spaces of dialogue, creativity, and collective problem-solving. It builds on years of field research, storytelling, and advocacy focused on youth inclusion, gender equity, and environmental justice across Nigeria and the wider Sahel. Through accessible, self-paced online courses, the Academy bridges policy, culture, and practice—bringing academic rigor and community realities into one space of continuous learning.

The Academy aims to equip learners—especially young people, educators, and civic actors—with the skills and frameworks necessary to comprehend and address environmental and identity-based conflicts. Its curriculum integrates peacebuilding, governance, and creative media to promote narrative change and local agency. Learners explore how climate change, migration, and resource stress intersect with governance and social cohesion. Each course encourages reflective learning and community engagement through storytelling, participatory research, and practical assignments. Ultimately, the Engaging Borders Academy serves as both a training hub and a think tank—cultivating a new generation of leaders who advance peace, resilience, and inclusive development in Africa.
